Initiative partners collaborate through work groups and symposia to develop forward-looking strategies that help their communities become more resilient, and to share this information with constituencies through outreach efforts to build policy consensus. Each initiative has an Advisory Committee to help identify and recruit core partners and local stakeholders that have assets and best practices that can be leveraged to harness technology, expertise and capabilities helpful to advancing the initiative.
Core partners represent the public, private and non-profit sectors, who contribute their unique mix of knowledge, experience and resources to help guide the initiative outcomes.
There are three facilitation tools to help connect partners and stakeholders:
1) Initiative Network: an on-line portal that links partner work groups in a secure network and helps them identify and recruit local stakeholders to participate in the initiative.
2) Community Action List: an on-line catalog in the Initiative Network that lists the location of critical organizations in the community, identifies their assets and key individuals that could be essential to the initiative. A GIS overlay helps track and locate assets, volunteers and annotate their capabilities.
3) Peer Team: a collaborative effort that pairs elected leaders to share knowledge and develop policy positions within the context of the initiative.
